CHURCH WOMEN UNITED SCHOLARSHIP
Graduating seniors and women-in-transition Church Women United Scholarship is here. See Sis. Brenda Brown for further information. Deadline is Thursday, April 15, 2010.
The new law was enacted after the 2009 forms, instructions, and publications had already been printed, so this alert is being added to the electronic version of certain impacted product.
The contribution must be made to a qualified organization and meet all other requirements for charitable contribution deductions. However, if the contribution was made by phone or text message, a telephone bill showing the name of the done organization, the date of the contribution, and the amount of the contribution will satisfy the recordkeeping requirement. Therefore, for example, for a $10 charitable contribution made text message that was charged to telephone or wireless account, a telecommunications company bill containing this information satisfies the recordkeeping requirement.
Ash Wednesday
Come and join us on a spiritual journey as we Walk With God to find His Heart through fasting, prayer, and study during the Lenten Season. We will begin this journey on Ash Wednesday, February 17th through April 4th, which is Easter Morning.
We will begin this special time of prayer and fasting with an Ash Wednesday service on 2-17-10 at 12 noon and another at 6 pm. At that time, we will begin our fast modeled after the spiritual practices of Daniel. This fast involves eating only what comes from the ground. The fast also includes regular and consistent prayer and study of God's Word. We will pray at least 3 times a day. Our focus will include doing the will of God through continual prayer and meditation on God's Word and staying focused on our Spiritual Journey. We will begin our spiritual journey by studying Isaiah Chapter 58.
Our physical diet may include fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts and seeds, legumes (beans), healthy oils, herbs, spices, vinegar. We may drink vegetable and fruit juices in moderation and lots of water.
We will avoid eating meat, desserts and drinking sodas. Anytime the desires for meat, desserts or sodas come we need to immediately go into prayer.
Ministries are encouraged to remember their daily prayer commitment in the sanctuary of the prayer agenda for 2010. We should also strive to pray more for our personal spiritual direction to ensure that we are doing God's Will.
Rev. Dr. W. Raymond Bryant, Pastor
